A Gem in our Midst
On Friday 28th March 2008 the Beverley Guardian published an eloquent and passionate call to action in defence of Norwood House. Written by Anna Ingleby of Beverley, the letter calls on the community to pledge their support and address their concerns about our heritage directly to our political representatives. The article is available here as a PDF attachment. Feel free to print it out and distribute it to your friends !
Update for Friends - March 2008
Since we last reported progress, the proposal for ‘A New Era for Norwood House’ has been written and submitted to the Heritage Lottery Fund. This was a lengthy and frustrating process as the requirements of the HLF are very rigorous and comprehensive.
The bid has now been considered by HLF and although they like the concept, they have reservations about capacity to deliver the project, but the project is by no means dead!
Thank you to all those who were able to join us to hear the detail of the present position and to offer your ideas and views at our meeitng on the Wednesday 12th March at Beverley Arms Hotel. It was a positive and successful evening.

New Web Sites
Along with the new web site for Autumn 2007 we will be developing newsletters and other web-based communications to attract financial support and build community awareness of Norwood House. Trustees are looking at the web site to see how best to link to similar projects, exchange 'traffic' and encourage participation.

The Beverley Guardian reported on the 12th October, in a piece entitled "Lottery could decide Norwood House destiny" that the Trustees had submitted a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund to restore Norwood House for the community. We are grateful for the coverage of local paper and you can find a copy of the piece here if you missed it.
Thank you !
May 19th 2007 saw volunteers take a stand at the Beverley Green Fair, Longcroft School, Beverley. A joint venture between Norwood House and Friends of the Earth. We explained our plans to a large number of interested people and sold some merchandise at the same time. This event raised £1,500 towards Norwood House's restoration appeal.
