Norwood House Beverley Limited
Norwood House, with its splendid Georgian architecture, having been the residence of many of Beverley's influential families, all of whom have contributed to the social and public life of Beverley and the surrounding areas would undoubtedly be a great loss to the area.
It is the aim of Norwood House Beverley Limited (also known as Friends of Norwood House) to restore the house and gardens to their former glory and have a building which is authentic in very detail where we will be able to:
- provide a facility for educational purposes for use by schools, local colleges and universities for historical, artistic and literary learning, together with presentation of lectures, concerts and drama productions
- provide areas within the house for a dedicated museum which through various features will be a significant record of the social and architectural history of Beverley
- restore the garden to period, which could be used for functions, themed events and musical soirees.
- provide a cafe/restaurant facilities where the ambience of a former age can be enjoyed.

At a subsequent meeting it was agreed in principle that Norwood House Beverley Ltd would take over Norwood House on a 125 year lease with the view to restoring it for the benefit of the people of Beverley and the increasing number of visitors to the area for the use as a Georgian museum and other amenities such as meeting rooms, possible registration for wedding ceremonies, restaurant etc. Charitable status has been applied for, and accepted, in order to take advantage of various forms of grant aid and some local publicity has already been generated. Fund raising will be of major importance in the future and we are in need of volunteers.
